Counseling is my second career. I spent the first 20 years teaching art in public and private school. My interest in creativity was always a drive to understand myself and other people and it is that curiosity that fuels my love for this work. As an adult, therapy helped me uncover and discover things that changed my life for the better. Getting to be a part of someone else’s journey of healing and growth is a privilege.
My approach to counseling is down-to-earth and relatable. I see folks who initially come to counseling because of a difficult life event-a break-up, a challenging transition-but they uncover something transformative in the process. I believe the investment in working on your own personal growth is the best investment you can make.
I am a board certified Licensed Professional Counselor (TX #74000). I received my M.A. in Counseling from St. Edward's University and my B.F.A in Art Education from Texas Christian University. Some of my additional training includes Internal Family Systems (parts work), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Eidetic Image Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. Additionally, I am a SIMS Foundation provider for Austin area music professionals and their families. If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, contact http://simsfoundation.org or 512-494-1007.
